Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup rice wine vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic powder, ground ginger, and red pepper flakes.
  2. Whisk together until the sugar is dissolved. Set aside.
  3. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the chicken breasts and the soy sauce mixture. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Remove the chicken from the marinade and add to the skillet. Cook for 5 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together the cornstarch and 1/4 cup of cold water until the cornstarch is dissolved.
  7. Add the cornstarch mixture to the skillet and stir to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
  8. Serve over steamed rice.
