Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the flour, baking powder, and salt and mix until combined.
Press the mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan and bake for 20 minutes, or until lightly golden.
In a separate bowl, mix together the walnuts, condensed milk, lemon juice, and cherries. Pour over the prepared crust and bake for an additional 20 minutes.
Let cool before cutting into bars.
