Cheese Pennies are delightful bite-sized biscuits loaded with cheesy goodness. These savory treats are perfect as a snack or appetizer for any occasion. With a crisp exterior and a tender, cheesy center, they will quickly become a favorite in your household. They are simple to make and require only a handful of ingredients. Serve them at your next gathering, and watch them disappear in no time!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped pecans (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, salt, paprika, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Add the grated cheddar cheese and softened butter to the dry ingredients. Use your hands or a fork to mix everything together until well combined and a dough forms.
  4. Add the milk to the dough and mix until it comes together into a smooth ball.
  5. If using pecans, place them on a cutting board and finely chop them. Sprinkle the pecan pieces onto a flat surface.
  6. Take small portions of the dough and roll them into 1-inch balls.
  7. Press each ball of dough into the chopped pecans, coating one side.
  8. Place the coated dough balls onto an ungreased baking sheet, pecan side up.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges of the cheese pennies turn golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  11. Serve the cheese pennies warm or at room temperature. Enjoy!
