The creamy mushroom custard adds a rich and luxurious touch, creating a harmonious blend of flavors. Whether you serve it for breakfast, brunch, or dinner, this biscuit bread pudding will surely impress your friends and family.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups flaky biscuits, cut into cubes
  • 1 lb sausage, casings removed
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned and cooked through. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the diced onion and sliced mushrooms. Sauté until the mushrooms are golden brown and the onions are translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, eggs, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper.
  5. Place half of the biscuit cubes into the prepared baking dish. Top with half of the cooked sausage and half of the mushroom mixture. Repeat another layer with the remaining biscuit cubes, sausage, and mushrooms.
  6. Pour the custard mixture evenly over the biscuit, sausage, and mushroom layers. Press down gently with a fork to ensure the bread absorbs the custard.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
  9. Garnish with some fresh parsley and serve warm.
