Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
- 1/2 cup caramel topping
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8 inch baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, mix together the melted butter and sugar until well combined.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Add this to the butter mixture and stir until combined.
- Fold in the walnuts, if using. Spread the batter into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove from oven and spread the caramel topping over the top. Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.
