Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) cold butter, cut into cubes
  • 1/2 cup cold water

Directions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, salt and sugar.
  2. Add the butter and mix with a pastry blender or your hands until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add the water and mix until the dough comes together.
  4. Shape the dough into a disc, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  6. Transfer the dough to a pie plate and crimp the edges.
  7. Chill the crust for about 30 minutes before baking.
  8. Bake the crust according to the recipe instructions.
