Broiled Marinated Tofu Sandwich

  • 1 block of extra firm tofu, cubed
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1/4 cup of tamari or soy sauce
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons of fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 4 slices of sourdough bread
  • 1/4 cup of mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup of lettuce, shredded
  • 1/4 cup of tomatoes, sliced


  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cubed tofu, olive oil, tamari or soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and black pepper. Mix until the tofu is evenly coated.
  3. Spread the tofu onto a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes, or until the tofu is golden brown.
  4. Spread mayonnaise onto two slices of the sourdough bread.
  5. Top each slice of bread with the roasted tofu, lettuce, and tomatoes.
  6. Top with the remaining two slices of bread to form the sandwich.
  7. Broil the sandwich for 2-3 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown.
