Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 10 inch tube pan.
In a large bowl, mix together the cake mix, pudding mix, oil, eggs, and almond extract until well blended. Pour into the prepared pan.
Bake for 40 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the top of the cake is golden brown. Allow cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.
In a medium bowl, mix together the cherry pie filling and chocolate chips. Spread the mixture over the top of the cooled cake.
