In a medium saucepan, combine the lentils, onion, garlic, oregano, basil, tomatoes, vegetable broth, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, for 15 minutes, or until the lentils are tender.
Transfer the lentil mixture to an 8x8-inch baking dish and spread the shredded cheese over the top.
Bake for 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
