Ingredients
1 (4-pound) whole chicken
1 (12-ounce) can of beer
2 tablespoons of olive oil
1 tablespoon of garlic powder
1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
1 teaspoon of chili powder
1 teaspoon of onion powder
1 teaspoon of dried oregano
1 teaspoon of dried thyme
Salt and pepper, to taste
Directions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Remove the giblets from the chicken and discard.
Pat the chicken dry with a paper towel and place on a cutting board.
Rub the chicken with the olive oil and season with garlic powder, smoked paprika, chili powder, onion powder, oregano, thyme, salt and pepper.
Open the beer can and pour off half of the liquid.
Place the beer can in the center of a roasting pan and carefully lower the chicken onto the can so that the chicken is upright.
Bake for 30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the juices run clear.
Carefully remove the chicken from the can and transfer to a cutting board.
Let the chicken rest for 10 minutes before carving.
