Ingredients
- 1 (4-pound) whole chicken
- 1 (12-ounce) can of beer
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1 tablespoon of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon of chili powder
- 1 teaspoon of onion powder
- 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon of dried thyme
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Directions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Remove the giblets from the chicken and discard.
- Pat the chicken dry with a paper towel and place on a cutting board.
- Rub the chicken with the olive oil and season with garlic powder, smoked paprika, chili powder, onion powder, oregano, thyme, salt and pepper.
- Open the beer can and pour off half of the liquid.
- Place the beer can in the center of a roasting pan and carefully lower the chicken onto the can so that the chicken is upright.
- Bake for 30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the juices run clear.
- Carefully remove the chicken from the can and transfer to a cutting board.
- Let the chicken rest for 10 minutes before carving.
