Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped cooked bacon
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups whole milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add green beans and cook until tender, about 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour and whisk until smooth. Slowly whisk in milk, and cook until thickened, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- In a 9x13 inch baking dish, layer green beans, almonds, Parmesan cheese, and bacon. Pour sauce over top. Bake in preheated oven until bubbly and golden brown, about 20 minutes.
