Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped cooked bacon
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add green beans and cook until tender, about 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour and whisk until smooth. Slowly whisk in milk, and cook until thickened, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. In a 9x13 inch baking dish, layer green beans, almonds, Parmesan cheese, and bacon. Pour sauce over top. Bake in preheated oven until bubbly and golden brown, about 20 minutes.
