Authentic Mexican Torta - Tortas Ahogadas

  • 4 Mexican teleras rolls
  • 1/2 lb of shredded chicken
  • 1/2 lb of cooked carnitas
  • 1/2 lb of cooked chorizo
  • 1/2 lb of cooked ham
  • 1/2 onion, sliced
  • 1/2 cup of refried beans
  • 1/2 cup of salsa verde
  • 1/4 cup of mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup of mustard
  • 1/4 cup of chipotle sauce
  • 1/4 cup of olive oil
  • salt and pepper to taste


  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil.
  2. Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the shredded chicken, carnitas, chorizo, and ham to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until heated through, about 5 minutes.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Toast the teleras rolls until slightly golden brown.
  6. Spread the refried beans on one side of each roll.
  7. Top with the cooked meats and onion.
  8. Drizzle the salsa verde, mayonnaise, mustard, and chipotle sauce over the meats.
  9. Serve the tortas ahogadas warm.
