Ingredients
- 1 cup of applesauce
- 1/2 cup of butter, melted
- 1 cup of sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour one 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, stir together applesauce, melted butter, sugar and eggs until well blended.
- In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Stir the dry ingredients into the applesauce mixture until just blended.
- Stir in the chopped nuts, if desired. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan.
- Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.
- Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
