Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix until evenly blended.
  2. Add the melted butter, warm milk, and beaten egg. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5 minutes.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about one hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch the dough down and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead in the sugar, vanilla, raisins, and nuts.
  6. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and roll each piece into a ball. Place the balls on a greased baking sheet.
  7. Bake in a preheated 375°F oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool before serving.
