In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add brown sugar, corn syrup, cream, vanilla, and salt. Stir until sugar is dissolved and mixture is smooth. Remove from heat.
Beat eggs in a medium bowl. Gradually add hot syrup to eggs, stirring until blended. Set aside.
Unroll one pie crust into the bottom of an ungreased 9-inch pie plate. Sprinkle evenly with raisins or currants. Pour in syrup mixture.
Unroll the other pie crust and place on top. Pinch the edges together to seal. Cut a few slits in the top to allow steam to escape.
Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool before serving.
