Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and eggs until light and fluffy. Beat in the sour cream and vanilla.
  4. Stir in the dry ingredients until just combined. Stir in the boiling water until smooth.
  5. Add the chopped pecans if desired. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  6. Bake for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool completely.
