In a large bowl, mix together the flour, butter, sugar, almond extract, and salt until a soft dough is formed.
Shape dough into 1 inch balls, and roll in the chopped almonds. Place them on an ungreased baking sheet, and flatten with your fingers to form crescents.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven, until lightly golden.
Remove from baking sheets to cool on wire racks.
