Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 cups apples, peeled and diced
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 eggs

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together butter, flour, and salt. Add cold water one tablespoon at a time, mixing with a fork until a dough forms.
  3. Press dough into a 9-inch pie plate. Bake for 10 minutes.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together sugar, cornstarch, apples, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spoon mixture into pie crust.
  5. In a medium bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and eggs. Pour over the apple mixture.
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
  7. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
