Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound ground venison
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 cup tequila
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the onion and garlic, and cook until the onion is softened and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the ground venison and cook until the meat is no longer pink, about 8 minutes.
  4. Stir in the chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, and cayenne pepper. Cook for 1 minute.
  5. Stir in the diced tomatoes, black beans, red kidney beans, and tequila. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve hot.
