Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1 egg
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Filling of your choice (jam, nutella, etc)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease or line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the molasses and egg and mix until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place on the prepared baking sheets.
- Make an indentation in the center of each cookie with your thumb or the back of a spoon and fill with 1/2 teaspoon of your desired filling.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until the edges are lightly browned.
- Allow the cookies to cool before serving.
