Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • Powdered sugar and fresh berries for topping (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (218°C). Place the butter in a 9-inch ovenproof skillet and place in the oven. The butter will melt as the oven preheats.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, milk, eggs, salt, vanilla, and sugar until smooth.
  3. Carefully remove the skillet from the oven and pour the batter into the skillet. Swirl the skillet to evenly spread the batter.
  4. Bake for 20 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is puffed up. Do not open the oven door while baking.
  5. Remove from the oven and dust with powdered sugar. Serve warm with fresh berries, if desired.
