Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- Salt, to taste
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 4 hamburger buns
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 4 slices American cheese
- Lettuce, tomato, pickles, and other desired condiments
Directions
- In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, and black pepper. Whisk to combine.
- Add the chicken breasts to the marinade and let them sit for 15 minutes.
- In a shallow dish, combine the flour and salt. Dip the chicken breasts into the flour mixture, coating them evenly on both sides.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the chicken breasts and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove the chicken breasts from the pan and set aside to rest. Toast the hamburger buns in the skillet, if desired.
- Assemble the sandwiches: spread melted butter on the inside of each bun, top with a slice of cheese, a chicken breast, lettuce, tomato, and pickles. Serve immediately.
