Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and sauté for 2 minutes.
Add the sausage and cook for 5 minutes, breaking it up with a spoon, until it is no longer pink.
Add the diced tomatoes, crushed tomatoes, red wine, tomato paste, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes, sugar, and salt and pepper to taste. Stir to combine.
Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes.
Stir in the heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. Simmer for 5 more minutes.
Garnish with parsley and serve with crusty bread and a glass of red wine.
