Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9 inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together 1/2 cup butter and white sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; stir into the creamed mixture alternately with the milk. Spread evenly into the prepared pan.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, cinnamon and 2 tablespoons butter. Sprinkle over the top of the cake batter.
  4. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before removing from the pan.
