Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups hot brewed coffee
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Stir to combine.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla. Add to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  4. Pour the hot coffee into the batter and mix until combined. Add the chocolate chips and mix until combined.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 inch pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. In a medium bowl, whisk together the heavy cream and semisweet chocolate chips until combined. Spread over the top of the cake and let cool before serving.
