Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, using a hand mixer, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla and mix until combined.
  5. Add the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  7. Using a tablespoon, drop the dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned. The cookies will still be soft but will firm up as they cool.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
