Ingredients
- 1 (12-pound) turkey, neck and giblets removed
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon poultry seasoning
- 1/4 cup water
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Rinse the turkey inside and out with cold water; pat dry with paper towels.
- Brush the turkey evenly with the olive oil and melted butter.
- In a small bowl, mix the salt, pepper, and poultry seasoning. Rub the mixture all over the turkey.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan. Add the water to the bottom of the pan.
- Roast the turkey for 3 to 4 hours, until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh reads 165 degrees F (75 degrees C).
- Remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before carving.
