Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour an 8-inch square pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. Combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt; stir into the batter until well blended.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips and pecans (if using). Spread evenly into the prepared pan.
  6. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges are crisp and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
