Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped red bell pepper
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup Italian-style tomato sauce

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, egg, onion, bell peppers, and garlic.
  2. Shape the mixture into a 9x5 inch loaf pan. Spread the mozzarella cheese over the top of the loaf. Pour the tomato sauce over the top and spread evenly.
  3. Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees F (70 degrees C). Allow to cool before slicing.
