Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup turbinado sugar (or granulated sugar)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a 9-inch tart pan.
- In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder. Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and stir to combine.
- Press the dough into the prepared tart pan, making sure to press it into the corners and up the sides.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the egg, remaining 1/2 cup of sugar, 2 tablespoons of flour, cream, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the custard into the tart shell and spread evenly.
- Sprinkle the turbinado sugar over the top of the tart.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the tart is golden brown and the custard is set.
- Let cool before serving.
