Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour an 8x4 inch loaf pan.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder and salt. In a separate bowl, mix together the egg, milk and oil. Add to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan.
Bake in preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.
