Ingredients
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- 3 tablespoons of butter
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 2 cups of fresh strawberries, quartered
- 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup of packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup of cold water
- 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 pound of frozen pie crust
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease 9-inch pie plate with butter.
- In a medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, cornstarch, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Place strawberries in the prepared pie plate. Sprinkle with the flour mixture.
- In a small bowl, combine cold water, brown sugar, lemon juice and vanilla extract. Pour over the strawberry mixture.
- Cover with the frozen pie crust. Cut several slits in the top crust for steam to escape.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly.
- Cool on a wire rack for at least 1 hour before serving.
