Ingredients

  • 4-5 cups of fresh strawberries, hulled and washed
  • 2 cups of granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup of fresh lemon juice

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, mash the strawberries with a potato masher until they are a thick pulp.
  2. Add the sugar and lemon juice and stir to combine.
  3. Pour the mixture into a saucepan and heat over medium-high heat.
  4. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, and then reduce the heat to low.
  5. Simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture has thickened.
  6. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
  7. Pour the preserves into a clean jar and store in the refrigerator until ready to use.
