Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1/2 cup diced celery
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 pound split peas
- 2 cups diced ham
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
- In a large pot over medium-high heat, heat the olive oil. Add the onion, celery, and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the broth and split peas and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes.
- Add the ham and simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve hot.
