Ingredients
- 12 jalapenos
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- Oil, for frying
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cut each jalapeno lengthwise and remove the seeds and membranes. Make sure to wear gloves while handling the jalapenos to avoid any irritation.
- In a bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Fill each jalapeno half with the cheese mixture, making sure to press it in firmly.
- In three separate shallow bowls, place the all-purpose flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs.
- Coat each jalapeno in flour, dip it in the beaten eggs, and then coat it in breadcrumbs. Repeat for all the jalapenos.
- Place the breaded jalapeno poppers on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- While the poppers are baking, heat oil in a deep fryer or a deep pot to 375°F (190°C).
- Carefully place a few baked poppers in the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Repeat with the remaining poppers.
- Remove the fried poppers from the oil and drain on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
- Serve the jalapeno poppers hot with a dipping sauce of your choice.
- Enjoy the spicy and cheesy goodness!
