Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
Directions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla and mix until combined.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough in half and wrap each half in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out one of the pieces of dough to a 1/4-inch thickness.
- Using a cookie cutter, cut out the desired shapes and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Repeat with the remaining dough.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove from oven and let cool on a wire rack.
