Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, warm water, and sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Sprinkle the yeast over the liquid mixture and let it sit for 5 minutes, or until foamy.
  3. Add the melted butter and eggs to the bowl and mix well.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until a soft dough forms.
  6. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  7. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  8. Punch down the dough to release the air and divide it into 16 equal pieces.
  9. Shape each piece into a ball and place them in a greased baking dish or on a lined baking sheet, leaving a little space between each roll.
  10. Cover the rolls with the kitchen towel again and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  11. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  12. Bake the rolls for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
  13. Remove from the oven and brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter for a glossy finish.
  14. Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving.
