Siri's Heart Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

• 1/2 cup butter, softened
• 1/2 cup sugar
• 1 egg
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
• Decorating sugar (optional)

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda. Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.
5. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place on a greased baking sheet. Flatten each ball with your finger and then use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out the cookies.
6. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until lightly browned. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
7. Optional: Sprinkle with decorating sugar before baking, if desired.
