Ingredients

  • 1 lb thinly sliced beef (rib-eye or sirloin)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup rice wine
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion (optional)

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the beef, soy sauce, rice wine, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Marinate the beef for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add the beef to the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until the beef is cooked through.
  3. Add the green onions and chopped onion (if using) and cook for 1 minute. Serve the bulgogi with steamed rice, lettuce leaves, and other sides.
