Ingredients
- 1/2 pound thinly sliced beef (about 6 slices)
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 4 slices bacon, cut in half
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1/4 cup chopped dill pickles
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Directions
- Lay the beef slices on a work surface and spread each piece with a thin layer of mustard.
- Divide the bacon, onion, and pickles among the beef slices, placing the ingredients in the center of each slice.
- Roll up each slice and secure with a toothpick.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the beef rolls. Cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.
- Add the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce and bring to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Remove the lid and simmer for an additional 5 minutes to reduce the sauce.
- Remove the toothpicks and season with salt and pepper, to taste.
- Serve the rouladen with mashed potatoes or egg noodles.
