Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Beat in the flour mixture alternately with the applesauce.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes in the preheated oven, until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  5. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
