Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cans black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup water
Directions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
- Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Add the black beans, cumin, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine and cook for 2 minutes.
- Add the water and bring to a simmer. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Using a potato masher, mash the beans until the desired consistency is reached.
- Serve warm.
