Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup wheat germ
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 1/2 cup raisins

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm water and let it sit for 10 minutes.
  2. Add the melted butter, honey, and soy sauce to the yeast mixture and stir until well combined.
  3. Add the all-purpose flour, wheat germ, salt, sesame seeds, and raisins and stir until a soft dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough into a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  6. Punch the dough down, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface, and shape into a loaf. Place the loaf into a greased 9x5 inch loaf pan and let rise for about 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Remove the loaf from the pan and let cool on a wire rack.
