Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped

  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes

  • 1 can (15.25 ounces) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15.25 ounces) pinto beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 cup water
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped green onions, diced avocado

Directions

  1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot. Cook for 2-3 minutes until onion is softened.
  3. Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, kidney beans, pinto beans, chili powder, ground cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper.
