This quick and easy twenty minute lasagna is perfect for those busy weeknights when you're craving a comforting and satisfying meal. Made with layers of flavorful meat sauce, creamy ricotta cheese, and gooey mozzarella, this homemade lasagna is sure to become a family favorite. And the best part? It can be on the table in just twenty minutes!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 lasagna noodles
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Directions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  2. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, water, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Simmer the sauce for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. While the sauce is simmering, cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  4. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Place 4 lasagna noodles on top of the sauce. Spoon half of the remaining meat sauce over the noodles.
  6. Spread half of the ricotta cheese evenly over the meat sauce. Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese over the ricotta cheese.
  7. Repeat the layers with the remaining lasagna noodles, meat sauce, ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, and Parmesan cheese.
  8. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 10 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
