Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the 1/2 cup of butter and white sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt; stir into the creamed mixture alternately with the milk. Fold in the pecans. Spread evenly into the prepared pan.
  3. In a medium saucepan, melt the 1/2 cup butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar and cream. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil for 2 minutes, then remove from the heat. Pour over the batter in the pan.
  4. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven. The cake is done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Allow to cool before serving.
