Ingredients
1lb ground beef
1 diced onion
1 diced green pepper
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 (14.5oz) can diced tomatoes
1 (8oz) can tomato sauce
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 (15oz) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
Directions
In a large pot over medium-high heat, cook ground beef with onion and green pepper until beef is no longer pink.
Add garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper and salt.
Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes.
Stir in kidney beans and cook for 5 more minutes.
Serve hot with your favourite toppings.

Chili is believed to have originated in Texas in the 19th century.
Beans are not a traditional ingredient in chili, but were added in the early 20th century.
The addition of smoked paprika to this chili gives it a unique, campfire-like flavour.
