Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
  • 4 slices of Panettone, about 1 inch thick
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • Maple syrup, for serving
  • Powdered sugar, for serving

Directions

  1. In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg until combined.
  2. Soak each slice of panettone in the egg mixture for about 1 minute on each side, being careful not to soak for too long or the bread will become soggy.
  3. Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat. When the butter is melted, add the panettone slices and cook for about 3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  4. Serve the French toast with maple syrup or powdered sugar, or both!
