Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour an 8-inch cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together the sugar, butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined. Add the orange juice and zest, and mix until combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
