Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter or vegetable oil
  • 1 cup warm water

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan and line with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
  3. Add the melted butter or oil and warm water and mix until combined.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  5. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.
  6. Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes before turning out onto a cooling rack.
